Project Description:
The purpose of this project was to alter the functions of the engine so that it was acting as close to its maximum capacity. We used a simulator to find out how our alterations and other conditions would affect our engine
Procedure:
For the majority of conditions we mad no alterations, these include: airspeed, throttle, altitude, mach, temperature, pressure, and afterburner. For the ones we altered we randomly chose a number within the constraints for that specific part. We did this for many trials changing only one condition at a time
Solution:
The best efficiency that we could come up with was 1.698 TSFC. Neither Eli, nor I could come up with a a way to make a ramjet any more efficient
Conclusion:
I learned a lot about engines by doing this project. I learned the basic functions an of engine. Also learned how by just editing one thing about the engine it can change multiple other outputs. Additionally I was surprised how many conditions were changeable in the creation of an engine. I didn't how one type of engine is a lot more efficient than another type. For a Ramjet our group was unable to improve our efficiency to a large degree. That is one of the things that troubled our group while making our engine.
